shame

written 13/10/2025 - I almost always say 'I love you' first in relationships, sometimes accidentally, and then cringe at myself for having feelings. Here's more feelings about that.

I have an embarrassment of love for you, my dear

so forgive my cheeks turning red

as the burning eye of a joint

passes between our gentle fingers.

cover your ears, darling

so that when my mind's fog escapes my lips

you cannot hear the sins I confess

and we can let the breeze through your open window

carry my shame away like smoke.
